A few words on confidence from founder of Charlie Mae, Beth Ireland...
If you could describe the person you'd most like to become, how would you describe her? What hobbies, activities, and habits would she enjoy? Is she kind, strong and loving? Does she support the women around her?
I have spent a lot of my life living in self doubt and now that I bring myself almost into my 30's I have had a lot of time to reflect on who I am and who I want to be. I no longer look for gratification in others but look to myself. I now make decisions based on ME and how I feel. I put myself first. Its not selfish, its necessary. I love my body for what it is, I eat well, I exercise and I do everything in moderation. Self transformation is a big topic these days and I wish to be real in this new world we live in.
These days social media is constantly showing heavily edited, fake and unrealisitic lives. Instagram is not real life. We all have messy, complicated lives and we ALL have our sad days. But we need those sad days to really enjoy the happy days! I wish to promote all body shapes, personalities, colours and sizes and I will create a brand that reflects just that. You being YOU! Take a day off social media if you need it. You know what I mean!!
Who's to say what trait will be your secret to success. No one before you has been YOU. Maybe its your messy unkept hair (mine is ;) ) or your humility or assertiveness is your draw card. Perhaps its your big eyes or sexy curves. Or your love of Aquarian books that will eventually attract the man of your dreams. Who knows! Embrace it! Because an authentic life is not more about becoming someone else, but working towards becoming a better version of you.
I have read endless books on self confidence and empowering yourself. I have spent endless days trying to figure out who I am and I realise this is not an easy task for some. But the thing is we are continually changing, growing and learning and its OK not to have all the answers. We will never have all the answers. Some of us will never really know what we want, but my secret is to enjoy every day because how lucky are we to be here! Take it back to the simple things and move with the ebs and flows life brings our way. The key for me has been to try everything. You wont know if you like it until you try!
Confidence comes from within and you will never succeed if you are constantly looking for gratification from others. It MUST come from inside you. Treat yourself with kindness, find your happiness from within yourself through learning more about yourself. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Are you introverted or extroverted. Do you need time alone to recharge or do you need time with others. Find out what you like, what you don't like. If you don't want to do something, don't do it. YOU DO YOU.
If you're scared to start something new, good! Do it. It will help you grow. A lot of self confidence is grown by facing your fears. Never did I think I'd be a fashion designer and own my own company but here I am. Taking risks is the best thing you can do. We only have one life, don't waste it!
Another important part of a confident life is to surround yourself with people who love you, challenge you and believe in you. Follow your gut on everything and use it to your advantage. Its always right. If you need to make a change.. DO IT. Move to the beach if that's what makes you happy. Leave the relationship that's toxic for you. Change your job if you hate it. It's up to you!
You've got this girls!!
